June forest ride – Cromer, Mt Crawford Forrest – Sunday 16 June 2013
Host: Ruth Naismith Mobile 0427808421 Arrive 8.30am> for 9.30am ride out
Ride description: This ride from Cromers will encompass the Cromer, Mount Pleasant, Goat Farm & Big Flat areas of the Mt Crawford forest. Weather permitting we'll be able to see a magnificent view from the summit of Mt Pleasant. I envisage riding for about 3-4 hours returning to the floats for lunch. Trotting & cantering can be done where tracks / conditions permit and there will be water crossings (assuming we have rain between now and then). It's got a few steep bits but nothing serious. Please ensure you are ready to ride out at 9.30am.
Directions: From Warren Road (Williamstown to Birdwood Road) – turn into Cricks Mill Road (travel approx 4.1 km) – the turn off to the Cromer Road is on the left 500 m past Starkey Road.
From Mount Pleasant / Keyneton Road turn into Williamstown Road (which turns into Cricks Mill Road at Cromer Road) – travel approx 5 km – the entry to Cromer Road will be on your right hand side – signs will be out – if you get to Starkey Road you’ve gone too far.
At Cromer Road (there is a sign to the Mt Pleasant Summit) - once over the cattle grid and in the gate – turn left and follow road around to the car park.
Cost- $2 forest fee per rider(if not a permit holder). Plus ATHRA member $2 Ride fee & Non ATHRA member visitor fee $25 (please be advised that if you are not a member of ATHRA you will need to be sponsored by an ATHRA member to participate). Please bring the correct change & place in tin at sign on book
