August RIDE OUT – Daveyston– Sunday 17th August 2014
Host – Michelle Day ph 0414869936 Arrival 9.00am> for a 10am start
Ride description: Starting at my place @ Hempel Rd, head towards Daveyston and under the Sturt Highway bridge, into Daveyston and a right turn onto a gravel uphill road that climbs up to another hill behind it and a lovely view of Freeling in the distance. Down the hill onto Quarry rd which has a old quarry on its left .The road is shaded with trees. A very large blockee of the Daveyston and Nain farming area with some wet weather roads and white gravel roads. All are very wide and maintained. There will be cute little hills to trot up and over and yes some great straight areas for what ever takes your fancy. Vehicle traffic is local only and sometimes not at all.
Eventually breaking for a bite to eat (BYO lunch) at the White Nain Church front (please bring halter and rope to tie up) there is an old fashioned rainwater hand pump at the church which is really handy for a top up of your water bottle and I will be leaving a bucket there also to give horses a drink as well. Then after a break will carry on down towards Daveyston on some more farm tracks back under the Sturt Highway bridge to home for COFFEE and TEA bickies and cake. There will be a porta loo again and floats parking in the main drive way.
Directions:- from Gawler down the Sturt Highway towards Greenock , 1km pass the Lauckes Flour Mill, turn left then immediate right onto old Sturt Highway and through Daveyston, under the bridge road turns into Hempel Rd. First house on the left with vineyard 300m. Signs will be posted.
