Departure is from Inese Zimmaro's property. Address is 677 Maldon-Newstead Road, Welshmans Reef. Phone Inese 0423 009 822, in order to confirm attendance. Watch for the signs and the white painted tyre on the gate. About 6-7kms from Maldon township. Start slowing down after you cross Sandy Creek as the driveway is on a blind bend on the right.
Anyone who wants to stay overnight can camp in tents or floats in front paddock and enjoy a bbq with the Zimmaro's but bring portable yards or electric fencing for your horse.
Departure is 10am sharp. Rides is approx 24kms, through the beautiful Muckleford State Forrest to the Poppet Head Goldmine for saddlebag lunch and then returning back to base about 3-30pm.
The ride is an easy beginners ride, starting with unpaved roads, then heading into the forrest along forrest roads and then winding through the scenic bushland. The terrain is mildly undulating and the ground is generally dry but with occasional puddles. Part of the ride provides opportunity for a trot and/or canter for those who prefer to do so. It is a great opportunity for beginners to gain experience and also for those members who have inexperienced horses. This is the first time our club has ventured to this location, so it is a new territory for us to explore.
