August CAMP – Waterloo – Friday 28 August – Monday 31 August 2015

Arrival: Friday – before 12noon Waterloo is just over 1 hour from Gawler

Friday – 1 pm start – ride ~ 2 ½ hours
Saturday – 9.30 am start - ride ~ 5 hours, 25km – lunch to be carried. We will be riding over varying road surfaces dirt to gravel, terrain is undulating. We will be going to Tothill Range and you can almost touch the machines of the wind turbine farms. Lovely views so bring your camera
Sunday – 9.30 am start - ride ~ 4 hours – lunch to be carried. Another pleasant scenic ride is planned over similar terrain as Saturday.
Anyone wanting to stay over til Monday we can have another ride. There are plenty of tracks up there.
This is a new ride for the club so expect the unexpected.
Horses – BYO everything. You will need yards, feed and horse water (rain water is from hall tank so may be limited supply). Don’t forget water bucket and rug it could be cold up there. Camping/horse area is fully fenced so horses cannot escape form the property. As usual, it’s clean up all your manure and hay before departure.
- If you are interested but don’t have yards Kath has a spare electric set up she can lend for the weekend.
People - BYO everything you need for you and your horse. Unpowered camping, $10 per person per stay +$5 hall hire if required. Rain water is nearby at the Hall toilets. We should be able to have a comfort fire in the evenings (BYO a log or 2 if you have room – otherwise collect wood from around the place). If the weather is a little unkind we have the option of using the hall facilities (an additional $30 for the weekend), microwave, kettle, fridge and heating. Saddleworth is the closest town for fuel or food otherwise come self- sufficient.
Directions – To get to Waterloo, go through Roseworthy, Tarlee, Riverton, Saddleworth and onto Manoora. At Manoora turn right into John St and go ~6 k you will get to a T junction turn left and it takes you into Waterloo [~ ½ to 1 km]. The camping area is on the corner of Main and Milde Rd Waterloo. Entry is from Milde road at the far corner of the paddock. Plenty of parking.
Cost-ATHRA members only - $2 Ride fee/day or $4 ride fee for the whole weekend. Please bring the correct change & place in tin at sign on book.
