October Ride – Mt Crawford Forest, CROMER – Sunday 18 October 2015
Host- Sandra Sampson Phone - 85682393 or 0417001158 Arrival - 9am on for a prompt 10am start
Ride description: This ride from Cromer picnic area will encompass the Cromer, Mount Pleasant, Goat Farm & Big Flat areas of the Mt Crawford forest. Weather & time permitting we'll be able to see a magnificent view from the summit of Mt Pleasant. I envisage riding for 3 hours. It's got a few steep bts but nothing serious. I'd happily take a weekend hack on this ride with no extra work. Pace will be mostly walking with a trot & maybe an opportunity for a separate track for those who wish to do more. Please ensure you are ready to ride out at 10 am. Stay for lunch after to enjoy the day – BYO. The car park must be left in pristine condition on leaving – no hay or manure to be left behind.
Directions: From Warren Road (Williamstown to Birdwood Road) – turn into Cricks Mill Road (travel approx 4.1 km) – the turn off to the Cromer Road is on the left 500 m past Starkey Road.
From Mount Pleasant / Keyneton Road turn into Williamstown Road (which turns into Cricks Mill Road at Cromer Road) – travel approx 5 km – the entry to Cromer Road will be on your right hand side – signs will be out – if you get to Starkey Road you’ve gone too far.
At Cromer Road (there is a sign to the Mt Pleasant Summit) - once over the cattle grid and in the gate – turn left and follow road around to the car park.
Cost: $5 forest fee per rider (if not a permit holder) & ATHRA member $2 Ride fee, Non ATHRA member visitor fee $40(please be advised that if you are not a member of ATHRA you will need to be sponsored by an ATHRA member to participate). Please bring the correct change & place in tin at sign on book
