OCTOBER RIDE OUT – Kapunda - Sunday 16 October 2016

Ride Description: - trail ride consisting of part riding over private property on the hills/ranges that span north and south of the property “Twin Creek”. (not sure what they are called but I suspect the northern end of the Mount Lofty ranges that follow on up to Eudunda).  The ride would include hills with sloping and possibly some steep parts (I will avoid that where possible) into valleys and possibly creek or water crossings I guess now with all this rain – ride would be possibly going through different paddocks and through gates…

The plans at this stage include Chris (Marias husband) & Peter (property owner) in one of the paddocks to have a fire happening in amongst gums – for a hot drink stop and sausage sizzle sort of thing and then we would continue to ride on.….  Envisage the ride would go for 2 – 2.5 hours in the saddle (+ lunch). Drinks, food & seating will be supplied by Maria.  (sorry … only a natural behind tree loo available!!!!)

Directions: - go through Kapunda on to the Thiele Highway (Kapunda to Eudunda Road).  Just out of Kapunda turn right on to the Truro Road and proceed for approx. 7.5km straight on this road. Turn left on to Bagot Well Rd. (GTHRC sign will be at this turn off). Travel on for 2.2km and turn right on to Camel Farm Rd. (Sign will be at this corner) – continue straight on this road for approx. 4.5km. You will see floats parked on this road at the point where we will meet. This road is the private drive way road and the meeting point is about .5 km to the farm buildings with a very steep creek crossing between us and the buildings (there will be no toilet out here available unfortunately). It is a very wide road and is suitable to park on. On departure we just drive on about 100mtrs further and do a turnaround before the creek crossing. BYO horse water. You will need to have a halter/lead and string with you to tie up out on the ride.

Coming from Truro on the Truro Road – Bagot Well Rd is on your right approx. 11.1km

Cost: - ATHRA member $2 ride fee/day. Non ATHRA member visitor rider fee $40/day (please be advised that if you are not a member of ATHRA you will need to be sponsored by an ATHRA member to ride).  Please have the correct money
