    Saturday 15th:                     Assemble for dismounted Pre-Ride talk 1.45pm to ride off at 2.00pm

    This will be a mystery ride leaving from the Walcha Showgrounds, Derby Street, Walcha as guided by Ian. 

    Accommodation:                             Walcha Showgrounds, Derby Street, Walcha.

    It has been arranged for us to be able to arrive Saturday morning to set up camp.  Stables and areas for taped yards are permitted.  As there are cattle grazing in the showground we have been asked to ensure that the gates are closed at all times.  Toilets and shower block will be unlocked.

     

    Walcha Festival Ride:         Langford, Walcha 1 6TH October

     

    To start riding at 9:00am – noon Sunday

    Where:         Situated 1 Km south of the township of Walcha in NSW, on the original location of explorer John Oxley's 1818 camp site.  Langford is a grand two story building constructed of locally produced red brick, featuring 22 rooms and a five story central tower overlooking the circular entrance driveway and extensive surrounding gardens.

    Langford is part of the original villa wolka property, first settlement of the New England. The construction of Langford was commenced in April 1903 by contractor Mr W. Morris of Inverell, with the designs for the homestead being drawn up by Maitland architect Mr JW Scobie. The completion of Langford ready occupancy by the owner Mr W. Fletcher was announced in October 1904.

     

    Cost:          ATHRA Member $10 – all of this will be donated to Westpac Helicopters,
    Day Rider $36 - $6 of this money to Westpac Helicopters

    Ride:          No one to be on their horse until they have registered and paid and filled in all forms

                       Through scenic country side and streams. 

                       If coming the day before you can stay at the Showgrounds ring Walcha Tourist Centre

    Rating:      1 – 2 easy

    Meeting:    There will be people to direct parking.  Floats into second entry gate, then veer right after 100 metres and head towards the woolshed, then go through gate after the woolshed.

                       We will be gathering, once all paper work is completed at an area that is fenced off from the general Festival area, its only a short walk to Langford House

    Yarding:    Tie to float

    Water:       Bring buckets

    Food:         Food for sale from 7am 12.30pm and costs $55, its a three course meal with drinks

    Facilities:   Lots happening, if you are interested in a tour of Langford and bookings essential

    Dogs:         Dogs not allowed

    Directions all km’s are approximate

         Coming from Gunnedah – takes around 2.5 hours,

         Head to Bendemeer on the New England Hwy

         Just past the Bendemeer Show Grounds turn right to Walcha

         Once in Walcha take second roundabout turning

         Right onto Gloucester Rd

    Just out of town a few kms on the left is Langford House
