There will be some gravel road (no traffic) and occasional rocky areas so for you to judge if your horse will need boots or shoeing. We will encounter dogs and mountain bikes, no trail bikes.
Bring a saddle bag lunch. We will finish be approx 3.00pm.
The Pine Forest is enjoyed by walkers and mountain bike riders as well as horse riders. It is a fabulous area for horse riding. There are innumerable tracks, open country, and a all small area of bush that are shared with walkers and mountain bikers. There is a diversity of vegetation and terrain but all of the riding is easy. This ride provides you with the opportunity to experience the pleasures of the Forest and decide if you would like to come again yourself.
You must be an ATHRA member to attend this ride or register as a day member online.
DIrections: The safest place to unload is at the back of the Pine Forest so we shall start there. From the north hill traffic lights proceed 6.4kms on Rockvale Rd. You will go past the Steiner School, the Pine Forest and cross Tillbuster Ponds, Bullock and Donald Ck and then almost immediately turn Right into Pine Forest Rd. Proceed 500 metres on gravel and park in the area to the Right, just as the road takes a sharp left turn. Please be considerate in how you park and there will be plenty of room for everyone. Allow 10 to 15 mins from the traffic lights.
You must be an ATHRA member to attend this ride or register as a day member online.
