The Barn 3235 Bairnsdale Dargo Road Glenaladale

“The Barn” at Calejero is situated on the Dargo Road on Iguana Creek (Glenaladale), about 30 minutes’ drive north east from Stratford, or north west from Bairnsdale. It is best to stay on the Princess Hwy through Sale, (not as per navman through Heyfield) Continue on through Statford, about 17 -21km to the Dargo / Fernbank / Glenaladale Road on the left. Athra signs will be put out, directing the last few kms.

There is a well-equipped kitchen/lounge with cosy fire, (two large fridges). There is an undercover socialising area with cabins on the right, it is equipped with some comfy chairs, wood heater and wood fire pizza oven in background. The Barn has 8 rooms with sleeping accommodation for various numbers, and there are 5 bunks in a large dormitory type area above with room for swags. The venue offers hot showers, full toilet facilities, fully equipped kitchen, safe paddocks for horses, and some yards; but I suggest members bring their portable electric yards if they wish to keep their horse separate as there are not enough yards for all. Food will be provided for all riders and we all chip in and help with the cooking and washing up. BYO drinks and horse feed. Please also bring your own towel, blankets, sheets, sleeping bags, and pillow.

    COSTS:

Adults $35 per person, per night, (includes riders and partners etc. alike); Children under 16 @ $20 per night (special discount for the club), preschoolers and HORSES are FREE.

Members may attend for all or as many days as they wish, but distance travelled really warrants staying as long as you can.

Food is $60 for the four days.

All bookings should be made to Sue Baillie on 0403 121 448 or baillie.sue@gmail.com . preferably by mid October.

We recommend that families or groups get together to work out compatibilities. There are 3 rooms with a double bed & 2 single beds; 1 with a queen bed; 1 with a single King; 1 with a double & single; 1 with a queen & 5 singles; and 1 with a queen, double & 3 singles. There are also 5 bunks and ample space for those with swags upstairs. The cost remains the same if camping in the float, as it includes use of the facilities, horse accommodation and the owners taking us out on rides.

Confirmation of payment of a $60 deposit is required before a booking will be confirmed. Payment should be made by EFT (direct deposit) into the

Warragul District Trail Riders BSB 063 532 Acc 000903394

    OR

Melbourne Trail Horse Riders Club BSB 063 106 Acc 010039918

Please quote Barn and surname as a reference.

It is proposed to travel on Friday morning, in time to arrive at Calajero for lunch. Riders will have time to settle in, before a relaxing leisurely ride to let the horses wind down after their journey. Rides will be arranged daily, according to member preferences and skills, , half or full day. Participants may ride, or have a rest day as they wish, with plenty of non-horse riding activities in the offing for non-riding family and friends. Horses will require a degree of fitness and horses will need to be shod, or at the very least well booted up because it is hard and stony under foot. Breastplates are essential as we will be riding in hilly terrain most of the time. Hope to see you all there.
