Be a part of Australia’s premier representative body for Trail Horse Riders.
Ride with confidence when you have an ATHRA club membership.
ATHRA provides members with great value and benefits.
Illawarra Horse Trail Riders is a non competitive club. We enjoy the social aspect just as much as the riding.
The rides vary from one day, weekends to week long camps.
We ride over vast and varied terrain, so we need all members to possess reasonable riding experience and have control of their horse at a walk, trot & canter.
Memberships expire at the end of a calendar year: 31st December.
Formed in 1998, following a Charity Ride.

A charity ride organised in April 1998 to assist a local girl who had a rare brain disorder, was the catalyst for the formation of the Leisure Coast Horse Trail Riders Club - now Illawarra Horse Trail Riders Inc.
Trail riding mates John Vandehaar, Derek Readman, Tony Hart and Stuart Beswick were discussing a route for a trail ride when it was suggested that the ride could be a good fundraiser to help this young girl.
Without any media advertising and to their surprise, 120 people eagerly participated in this event. There was obviously an interest in the formation of a trail riding club. The four enlisted a total of ten people to invest money to become an incorporated entity and from that, the club was formed.
