Bredbo Day Ride

This ride is open to TTHRInc club members, ATHRA members and non members, who will be required to pay a Day ride fee of $30 for insurance purposes.

Ride Register: It is a requirement that all participants sign the ride register upon arrival at the ride base. A parent or guardian MUST sign the register for junior riders (under 18).
Ride Start Time: Saturday 8 February 9 AM for a 9.30 AM Start. NO LATE STARTERS, SORRY
Directions: Ride base is at Bredbo (approx 75 kms south of Canberra). Turn down North Street next to Bredbo Pub. Continue for approx 1 km and park opposite the Cemetery on the right.
Ride Description: This is a beautiful ride of approximately 25 kms following Murrumbidgee River North to Goatshooters Hut, returning to base through private property, mostly on tracks.

Ride Warnings/Alerts: Two shallow river crossings, possibly some livestock. Hot dry conditions (bring plenty of water for yourself).
Ride Difficulty: Easy paced but long ride with a couple of quite steep climbs.
Horse Fitness: Horses must be moderately fit and sound.
Estimated Duration: 5-6 hours
Catering: This is high fire danger season so no BBQ will be provided. Please BYO morning tea and lunch.
Equipment: Bring headstalls for tying, leading horses, saddlebags for carrying food and water. Other equipment as required by the individual. If you want to swim in the river, bring your swimming togs.
Horse feed: Please bring your own.
Water Availability: Water for horses in river, in morning and at lunch time, and dams. Please bring plenty of water for yourself to avoid dehydration.
First Aid: A basic first aid kit will be carried on the ride.
Emergency Contact: Mobile phone and hand held 2-way radios will be carried on the ride.
Helmets: All junior riders (under 18) MUST wear AS/NZ 3838 or ASTM F 1163 helmets less than five years old.
Horse Shoes: Recommended but not essential. It is recommended that unshod horses carry boots.
Dogs/Stallions: Not allowed
Participants are required to adhere to the ATHRA Code of Conduct which can be found at: www.athra.com.au. It is highly recommended that you read the Code to keep up to date with all rules and regulations.
