The Marong State Forest is easily accessed from Malone Park via some quiet dirt roads, so traffic should not be a problem. The terrain may be stoney in places so shoes or hoof boots are a must. We may encounter kangaroos and some motorbike riders. The ride will be approximately 22 kms in length over undulating ironbark forest tracks.
Conditions: Suitable for horses and riders of all abilities.
Bring: Saddlebag lunch, halter and lead rope. We will have access to a dam near the lunch spot. If the weather is miserable, we can do a shorter ride and then eat lunch in the shed at Malone Park when we return, which has a fridge and a stove for our use. There are also undercover tie up stalls for the horses at Malone Park. We can have a cuppa before we go home if desired.
