Orange Trail Horse Riders and Drivers Association Friday 10th to Sunday 12th May Nangar...
A beautiful and picturesque ride through the natural landscape of Nangar National Park near Eugowra NSW.
The Park has a variety of terrain from flat open areas (formally farming land), some creeks and valleys. Dripping Rock is a feature of the area when we are fortunate enough to have had some rain before the time of our camp. Some very hilly areas which provide the beautiful views of the park and surrounds. The view from the Nangar lookout is worth the ride and a great place to rest and have some lunch.
There are some special requirements when camping in the park and for any details please contact Cathy Hancock 02 6344 1775.Riding conditions are moderate, rocky terrain. It is recommended that horses are fit and shod.
Lunch will be enjoyed on the trail so please bring a packed lunch, head stall, and baling twine to tether horses.
Directions - Take the Forbes Rd from Orange to Cudal.
Continue along the Escort Way through Murga and Toogong. Turn left into "Nangar National Park" which is marked by a brown "National Parks and Wildlife" sign adorned with balloons. Follow the road in through private property for a couple of kilometres until the entrance of the National Park. Travel a few hundred metres and the camp will be on the right hand side.
Things you need to bring with you:
Drinking water
Possibly drinking water for horses. I am not sure of dam status or level. I usually bring horse water from home just in case. Cathy said she has never seen the dam empty.
Horse feed – Lucerne should be ok. Might be a good idea to bag up hard feeds.
Food for dinners Friday, Saturday night and breakfast and lunch.
There are BBQ facilities and toilets at the camp site. (Temporary drop toilet)
Cold weather gear. Wet weather gear – you never know!
If everyone brings a bag of firewood we should have enough to cover the whole weekend.
The rest will need to come from your own camping with a horse list.
Please RSVP to Averil Keen on 0402067790 by 7th May.
See you there!
